In the world we live and anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks upon us, I would call the NTS and ask if this is permissible. They change the rules and you never know. I would hate to see you have to dump it in the trash. Also, how long is the flight, will it stay cold.
Good luck and try the regulators before you attempt to bring this on the plane. Michael M

It should not be a problem. My family has hauled fruit and other perishables through the Las Vegas airport.

We also have brought frozen goods form Hawaii to California, so I doubt that coming from Louisiana to LV is going to be any more difficult.

Here is the thing... You need to make sure that you pack the frozen stuff in a heavy duty, well insulated ice chest. There are ice chests, and there are good ice chests. Don't use the styrofoam ones as those will crack. Buy a good guality insulated plastic chest and the better ones generally have a hinged lid.

You can't put put dry ice and ice cubes in ice chest as dry ice is not allowed on board and ice cubes will melt and potentially leak.

What we do is make sure that we only put frozen goods in the ice chest and make sure they're frozen ROCK hard inside of zip lock bags. Pack the stuff tight and if there are any air gaps, fill them with crumpled up newspaper to keep things snug and insulated. You'll want to seal the up the ice chest with strapping tape and makes sure to tape a label on the top and one side of the ice chest with your dad's friend's name and address in LV.

It's a good idea to take strapping tape with you in case the airline wants to open it up or in the case of Hawaii, we tape up the ice chest AFTER it clears Hawaii's agricultural inspection but before it gets checked through to the airline.

I don't think you'll have any problems if you take the appropriate precautions. mauisunset

The problem is how is he going to keep it frozen ?
If the answer is "By packing it in dry ice" Then your answer is "No he can't do it " mr danger

the only way you can take it with you is to pack it in the check in luggage. the airports are really strict and you wouldn't want to get almost in the door and then have them throw it out. pojme

I don't see why not. I have taken loaves of bread and a few pounds of sausage with me and I didn't have a problem. They even searched my bag and had a good laugh over what was in it. lvgeno
