In Las Vegas is it lawful for my employer to make training mandatory and make me pay half?

I work for a timeshare company in Las Vegas. The person who runs this office is making it mandatory for all employees to attend special training, and telling us they will take it out of our paychecks for our half. Is this legal?

OK. So we all know that time share companies are a little sketchy. But they must still comply with employment laws. If you are an employee and not an independent contractor, then you may need to have a talk with someone at the Nevada Department of Labor or their Office of Employment. You may also want to talk with someone in the Federal Department of Labor to see if federal wage laws are being broken. If your employer is breaking the law, it must be reported. Thomas T

That depends. if you are an employee; then that is against the law, if they want to provide training then they need to pay for it.
If you are seen as an independent contractor then as contractor they may require you to have this training in order for them to “hire” your services, I don’t think that’s illegal. tntsolid
