What are some tourist stops from LA to Las Vegas?

Clara asked:

I’m going a little mini road trip. We want to make as many stops from LA to Las Vegas within a 3 day period.

Some places we want to stop at are ghost towns (real ones, not tourist traps), places to hike with scenic views, diners that are in the middle of nowhere, and maybe check out a magic show or something entertaining when we get to Las Vegas. Any suggestions?

Honestly, there is not much to do and see between LA and Vegas. However here are the few places worth stopping. Barstow to gas up, Baker home of the worlds largest thermometer and Primm on the stateline to gamble and shop at the outlet centers.

However when you get to Vegas, plan a day trip Red Rock Canyon for hiking, Bonnie Springs Ranch, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead Chip O

Maybe you want to pick another end location.
It is only a five hour ride with but two real stops Baker and Barstow.
There’s meth labs in Barstow, not ghost towns on this trip.
As I suggest pick another end location. Michael M

Wow there is so much to see on the way to Vegas, it will boggle your mind. Vegas is surrounded by more national parks than almost anywhere. To find them go to VegasNature.com. They have videos and map you can decide what you will want to see. While

Baker, CA. Largest Thermostat around! More digital now. Due to mercury being toxic. Lucky Chevron Gas lotto pit! A UFO selling beef jerky place. A greek cafe. Basically it was a stop put in before rolling on to Death Valley.

Oh, forgot to mention 1 Starbucks was their, last time I visited the alien jerky store. Read My Mind!

Mohave Desert, Barstow shops, and the casinos on the Cali/Nevada border. You won’t need 3 days though trust me. One long day is all you’ll need. Chris

you’re driving thru the mojave desert…there are cacti and that’s about it…in fact you’ll probably not want to be stuck there for any length of time…but if you go thru pearblossom there’s hang-gliding, mountain high… then barstow (which is a total tourist trap), baker, calico (ghost/tourist town) and that’s about it before you hit casinos…have fun! jane
