as long as you have a strong will power you will be fine. Most locals dont go to the strip. The art scene is amazing, being an artist myself i must say there is so much to see. But of course for a lot of the most amazing art galleries you have to go on the strip, but there is also an annual art festival. Musically it is alright, not the greatest but not the worst either. Theatrically, amazing again. Mostly its a great city, just have a will power. But las vegas is still fun. Lunarayne

why are u transferring to UNLV? I know most universities are having issues right now but UNLV is ridiculous. I went there for three years and stopped. It isn't worth the money. They are cutting programs and other stuff and still raising tutition. Most of the teachers are part time teachers. If you are looking for a place to not learn and get an easy ride then I guess go to UNLV. Our economy is shit right now. You can gamble on a budget but you'll prolly gamble your budget lol. You can do stuff every now and then on a budget but it depends how much you party. vegasgrl

Vegas is fun but when you live here you have to learn to deal with the temptations of the tourist industry. Locals seldom go to Strip; only if there are visitors in town or a very special occasion to see a show. The art scene is minimal; Downtown has a "first friday" but seems to get smaller and smaller each year.

Just remember there is a regular city away from the tourist industry banananose_89117
