What would you recommend I visit on a road trip to Las Vegas and where do I stay?

I am putting together a road trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. What are some places to visit on the way out there that are affordable? And what’s an affordable place to stay once I get there?
I am taking a road trip to Las Vegas, Nevada and I am coming from Springfield,Missouri. What do you recommend I see along the way? And where do you recommend I stay at once I get there that is affordable?

    I recommend staying at the Las Vegas Hilton.

    Stay at Mirage, MGM or Excalibur. These hotel have very reasonable prices. Check also for the latest hotel promotions for these and other Las Vegas hotels as well. MarieP

    def try to see the grand canyon and the hoover dam! we stayed at the excalibur and it was really cheap and still nice! thats where well stay if we go again! have fun! Angela

    Come during the week as hotels are cheaper. Stay at the Gold Coast Its reasonable and across from the Palms and close to the strip Zippy
